Sinopec Shengli Oilfield, a crucial petroleum industrial base in China, is divided into the eastern and western oil regions. It boasts a crude oil production capacity of tens of millions of tons. From 1987 to 1995, its crude oil output remained above 30 million tons for nine consecutive years. From 1996 to 2015, the average annual output was stably above 27 million tons for 20 consecutive years. As of the end of 2023, it has cumulatively produced 1.316 billion tons of crude oil, making significant contributions to the development of the petroleum and petrochemical industry.

Business Challenges

Difficulties of Manpower Management

With the expanding production scale of large oil depots, coupled with the wide distribution of oilfield production operations, artificial inspection on numerous video channels is unfeasible and safety management is extremely difficult.

Irregularities Occur Frequently

Considerably inconsistent level of operation and quality of workers in the construction process bring about inevitable violations accompanied by greater risks during the operation.

Application Solution

The program is adopted with Corerain AI video analytics platform deployed to make access to 300 channels of videos at the site, to carry out the detection of operational risks and violations, such as crude oil leakage and oil spill area calculation, helmet detection, red uniforms recognition, oil pumping units operation status recognition, and illegal intrusion during the production process of oilfield, effectively preventing hidden work safety hazards.

Implementation results

Intelligent recognition and analysis based on 300 channels of videos throughout each operation area are achieved to relieve the pressure of massive videos inspection and reduce manpower management cost.

The project uses an inference platform, front-end cameras, video recorders, AI intelligent analysis server and network equipment, etc.

Safety supervision system is established for personnel, environment and equipment to realize the real-time alarm for safety hazards, effective supervision of onsite operation risks and personnel violations, improving the efficiency of production management.
